The National Gallery of Canadian Drawings is an online educational and cultural initiative of the Drawing Society of Canada. The gallery's main purpose is to showcase the artwork of Canadian artists, of any age, beginners and accomplished, who love to draw. We want to encourage the art of drawing and advocate publically that Canadian culture positions the art of drawing as an independent and highly acclaimed art form. There are no membership requirements or fees or other charges for anyone who wishes to display their work in the National Gallery of Canadian Drawings. The gallery, however, in a spirit of excellence and commitment to those who have dedicated themselves to creating art that inspires the human spirit, requests the following:
1. Artists must be Canadian by birth and/or citizenship.
2. Participating artists must remember that people of all ages are encouraged to post artwork, including young people. Therefore those who participate are asked to be discretionary in what drawings they put in the gallery.
3. The gallery reserves the right to delete any or all artwork that does not comply with reasonable discretionary standards of public display of fine art.
4. The National Gallery of Canadian Drawings and the Drawing Society of Canada are not reponsible for any or all content of this social network.
The Drawing Society of Canada, its many arts education initiatives, the National Gallery of Canadian Drawings, and its founders are not reponsible for the quality of work presented in the gallery, nor the claims of ownership of artists and their drawings, and any or all other liabilites that may presents themselves in providing this unique service to Canadians and art lovers everywhere.
"This is about the artist's choice of work that brought her or him fulfillment in its creation, not subject to the market for art and the dictates of institutionalized culture. Artists are 'real people in real time' who need encouragement, nurture, and support in their often solitary creative journeys. It's not about everyone being an artist, but about every artist being heard and seen." Gerrit Verstraete, founder Drawing Society of Canada
